Stephen DesChamps

Stephen W. DesChamps has a broad range of experience in real estate which began in Charleston, S.C. at Ravenel Development Corporation, a developer of grocery anchored shopping centers across the Carolinas and Georgia. There he worked in site selection, acquisition, leasing and project management. Following this, he joined Senter and Associates in Sumter, SC where he was actively involved in sales brokerage, property management, leasing, investment management and development. Also, he organized and served as managing partner for various real estate investment companies.
Stephen joined Coldwell Banker Commercial Cornerstone in November of 2002. He is a member of the ICSC, has earned the CCIM designation and has been honored with the prestigious Circle of Distinction award for brokerage excellence by Coldwell Banker Commercial. Stephen works in all areas of commercial real estate in order to best serve his clients locally while also working with regional and national clients in a more specialized capacity.

In addition to serving his clients with expertise in all facets of commercial real estate, Stephen applies these same skills and experience for his own personal benefit as an active investor, developer, and landlord. His portfolio of investments is varied to include retail, professional office, and farm/timber land.

Prior to beginning his career in real estate, Stephen spent seven years working in the field of manufacturing, first as manufacturing manager at Precision Fabrics Group in Greensboro, NC and then plant superintendent for Kaydon Corporation in Sumter, SC. These opportunities yielded valuable experience in developing the organizationa l , management, and business skills necessary to be successful in the commercial real estate arena.

Stephen attended Clemson University where he earned a BS degree in Agricultural Economics and followed that with a Master of Business Administration degree.

A native of neighboring Lee County, South Carolina, Stephen presently lives in Sumter. He is married to the former Meri Jones of Sumter and has a daughter, Madison, and son, Jones. He is an active member of First Baptist Church in Sumter where he has served on various leadership committees. Stephen served as Treasurer of the Sumter County Clemson Club, is a former member of the Sumter Downtown Economic Restructuring Committee, the Military Affairs Committee of the Chamber of Commerce, the Shaw-Sumter Community Council, and serves as a Tuomey Fellow at Palmetto Health Tuomey Regional Medical Center. Additionally, Stephen has coached youth sports at both the YMCA and Sumter Recreation for many years
