Rooted in West Milton, Ohio, Martin's high school achievements include being named the Southwestern Buckeye League Offensive Lineman of the Year in his junior year and receiving first-team All-Ohio honors in senior year. Opting for Indiana University over multiple offers, Martin showcased his commitment to both academic and athletic excellence.
During his five-year tenure with the Indiana Hoosiers, Martin played in 50 games, with 43 starts, and received honorable mention All-Big Ten Conference recognition in his redshirt junior and senior seasons. Wes was the 4th round draft pick in the NFL by the Washington Commanders. Wes has also played for 3 NFL teams throughout his career, and started in double digit games.
