Nestled at the foot of a picturesque bluff on the shore of the deepest natural bay in the Great Lakes, Harbor Springs was founded by Jesuit Missionaries in the early 1800's. Around 1920, the natural beauty of the area led to increasing popularity as a resort town. Soon fishing, trapping and lumbering were replaced by recreational pursuits. Golf, downhill and cross-country skiing, and snowmobiling make the area a true four-seasons destination. Specialty shops, art galleries and great restaurants captivate the many visitors and residents.
